Debut novel delivers twists, struggles Louisiana style

Patterson, La., native Andrea Wren’s debut novel centers around 15-year-old Isabella, who knows her life will change when she leaves the comfort of her French Caribbean island home for Louisiana. But an unexpected turn of events lands her in the heart of the Deep South during the slavery era.

Isabella: The Belle of Ironwood takes the reader through the back alleys of New Orleans to the bayous of sugarcane plantations where Isabella struggles with the darker side of human nature and the heartbreak of the Civil War. She forges friendship from hardship, experiences the joys of love and family, and finds her calling.

Wren is a resident of Lafayette and has published poetry in “A Celebration of Poets: Showcase Edition” and The Southern Consumer Times Newspaper.

She had also published short stories in The Daily Advertiser’s Atchafalaya Voices: Wisdom, Wit, and Wonder.
Isabella: The Belle of Ironwood is a paperback at the retail price of $19.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4349-0368-6. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. BuyTheBook.
