New Orleanian named ‘Ice Cold Leader’

Tommie Vassel (far right) accepts the 2012 Coors Light Ice Cold Leader Award during a reception held in his honor, Friday, March 30. Vassel, a long-standing community leader in New Orleans, formerly served as President Pro Tem of the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Vassel led the SWBNO in securing over two billion dollars in federal funding to repair the infrastructure damage. Vassel was identified as one of six exceptional community leaders across the country by Coors Light and 100 Black Men of America, and named New Orleans’ Ice Cold Leader through an online consumer vote.
