Demas Dunn named museum board president

HAMMOND— The Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum and Veterans Archives board of directors recently elected Demas Dunn president.

In a recent interview, Dunn said. “Their will be some changes made, the changes will be slow.”

“The board has a new outlook and we will continue to work on the things Perkins was working before his premature death,” Dunn said.

He said he and the museum staff will reach out to the faith community, corporations, businesses, and individuals for continued support.

“I am going to put in place a special diverse advisory committee to the board consisting of all ages,” he said.

The museum is located at 1600 Phoenix Square in Hammond, is open weekdays 10am – 4pm and Saturdays by appointment.
